A Muslim-Friendly Beach Area in Boracay to Open Very Soon

The famous Boracay has been a go-to destination for travelers, regardless of age, gender, and religion. So, when the news came out that Boracay would soon open a dedicated zone for Muslim travelers, the island opened more opportunities for greater inclusivity and diversity. With this initiative, Muslims would feel even more welcomed and accommodated in Boracay.

The Department of Tourism has announced that a private cove, specifically for Muslim women, will be inaugurated on September 10, 2024, within the Boracay Newcoast. This development is in response to suggestions from foreign diplomats based in the Philippines, including the ambassadors of Malaysia and Brunei. They pointed out that Muslim women may feel more comfortable swimming in a private area, as such facilities are not readily available at most of the beaches in Boracay.

The Boracay Newcoast zone, managed by real estate firm Megaworld, will soon be converted into a private beach for Muslim women. This area is situated in the northeastern part of the island. It is also the location of the Savoy Hotel, which proudly holds a Halal kitchen certification, making it one of the select few establishments in the country to have received this recognition.

For the past two years, the Philippines has been acknowledged as an Emerging Muslim-Friendly Destination (non-OIC country) by the Mastercard-CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel Index. This recognition highlights the country's efforts to cater to Muslim travelers' needs and provide them with a welcoming and accommodating travel experience.
