Cebu is teeming with lovely new gardens, filled with both real and artificial flowers. New establishments have also opened which have interesting and seasonally appropriate offerings to customers.

GARDENS TO VISIT


TIEZA Botanical Garden

TIEZA Botanical Garden is a new flower garden in the mountainous area of Busay, which is famous for its blooms. The property, which used to be the Kan-irag golf course, is currently being developed by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).

A great picnic spot is the Malubog Lake, which is surrounded with red and yellow celosia flowers. To go there, one can ride a habal habal (motorcycle for hire). Travel time is 20 minutes from JY Square Mall in Lahug. Entrance fee is at PhP20.


Terrazas de Flores Busay

Still in the Busay area is Terrazas de Flores Botanical Garden. Visitors can admire 127 species of flowers in this one-hectare garden and enjoy the cool breeze. They can also eat or drink at the café, or sit back and relax at the viewing deck or at any of the three cabanas. The garden is accessible by cab or private vehicle and is 20 minutes away from JY Square Mall in Lahug.

Entrance fee is PhP100.

Milk Cow

Ice cream is best enjoyed during hot summer days. At Milkcow, diners can choose from over 20 flavors of organic soft-serve ice cream. This Korean café with over 50 branches worldwide is now in Cebu and had their grand opening last February. Bestsellers include Macao Dream, Mango Tree and Milky Cube.

Ice cream prices range from PhP100 to PhP170.




10000 Roses Café

One relaxing way to enjoy summer is to watch the sun set. Locals and travelers can do so at 10000 Roses Café & More, a Korean café where the main attraction is the 10,000 artificial LED-powered roses inspired by the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul, Korea.

The café has an al fresco dining area and roof deck where one can enjoy the view of the Cebu Strait and the metro Cebu skyline. Prices range from PhP60 to PhP145 for drinks, and PhP220 to PhP450 for food. Visitors have to pay an environmental fee of PhP20.

For those who want to make their action movie fantasies into reality, The Barracks is a place worth checking out. The Barracks boasts of having the first archery tag arena in the country. In this archery range and playground, visitors can play a game of laser tag with friends or wriggle out of a laser maze a la Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible.

Rates start from PhP60 to PhP220.


The summer promises to be not only sizzling hot, but also exciting with these new spots in Cebu.
