Cebu is one of the top travel destinations, both for business and pleasure, in the country. Aside from a dynamic business community, the island also offers many fun and leisure options for visitors.

While Cebuanos do visit local tourist destinations, there are times when they prefer a staycation instead of driving an hour or two just to get away from the stress of life in the city. If you’re planning a staycation, here are some newly opened hotels you can consider.


1. Bai Hotel

When: October 2017

Bai Hotel is an ultramodern hotel offering all the amenities guests look for in an upscale hotel. The name comes from the term Cebuanos use to call a friend. The hotel is a member of a group of independent hotels in the world, Worldhotels.

Bai Hotel features 668 guest rooms, eight restaurants, a fitness center with sauna, and 12 conference rooms. The hotel also has an outdoor infinity lap pool on the 21st floor, which gives guests a panoramic view of the city. Bai Hotel is around 49 minutes away from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport. Room rates start at PhP4,000 per night.


2. Maayo Hotel

Maayo Hotel features 229 guest rooms, four dining options, a wellness gym, and a rooftop infinity pool offering a scenic view of the city. The rooftop also has a pocket garden with a yoga space and jogging path for its guests. Maayo Hotel is around 15 minutes away from the airport. Room rates start at PhP3,200.


3. Cebu Hotel Plus
