Bar hopping is nothing new to the corporate warriors who slave at work in the day and want to let loose at night. If you’re in for a few drinks or for a weekly ritual hangout with your friends, here are the newest places in the metro that you and your group can try.

The Penthouse 8747

If you are a fan of Great Gatsby and want to try a different way of spending your Friday night, dress up and head over to Penthouse 8747, located at the top of Lepanto Building in Makati. This fine dining and party place offers local and imported drinks, and whips their own cocktails like the book characters Gatsby and Klipspringer.

This popular premium casual restaurant finally made its way to the Philippines just this June, bringing their well-known “Neapolitan pizza.” Its creator Salvatore Cuomo proudly coined the term and brought along his Italian and Japanese roots to his cuisine. Salvatore Cuomo & Bar Manila has a spacious bar area where you can get wines and even sake, as well as a Chef’s Table, which is a long, communal table good for ten people, that you can reserve with your friends for a different dining experience.

If you are not into alcohol, you can still enjoy this bar because they serve coffee and frappes as well. As a bonus, they offer valet parking so you won’t have to worry about your car.

This old mansion refurbished as a hostel and “gastrobar,” a bar or pub that offers high quality meals, just opened last January and will give you all the nostalgia of the Old Manila with its white walls, wood accents, and extravagant chandelier. Aside from the usual shots and cocktails, Tambayan boasts of their adobo as their bestseller. Parking might be tricky, though, as it is situated along the busy street of Malate.

1018 Bar is your classic hangout place if your idea of a good time is drinking. From local beers to well-known hard drinks and a couple of cocktails, you’ll have plenty to choose from while chatting with your friends and overlooking the view of Makati. 1018 Bar features live bands every Friday that you and your friends can enjoy with a couple of beers. A little heads up—this place might be a bit difficult to find. Take Pililia St. from JP Rizal if you’re going after 9:00 PM as the village gates close around this time.

TUNNL

True to its name, this bar has a literal tunnel concept; the area is surrounded with stonewalls covered in graffiti, with soft lighting. Inspired by the speakeasy concept from the Prohibition period in America, TUNNL serves classic cocktails and plays electronic music to 90’s hits—a sweet treat, actually, if that is your vibe.

Opening just before the sun sets and closing just before the sun rises, this bar is not only made for drinking and partying but for some fine dining, too. They serve Angus ribeye steak and TUNNL Burger, which are just two as their popular offerings.

The Bonbon Club

What makes The Bonbon Club stand out among other bars? It only serves gin. Don’t worry, though, because they use international brands and make fine cocktails out of their gin selections. They offer the usual gin-based cocktails like Negroni and Gimlet, but also whip drinks infused with unusual ingredients—some of the more popular ones are Dr. Sylvius, infused with black peppers, and Earl of Milan, made with the Earl Grey Tea.
