Everybody looks forward to Friday as it marks the start of the weekend. This is an opportunity to unwind and take a short break from school and work. And what better way to enjoy the weekend than to catch the latest offerings in the metro? Whether you are a fan of movies, plays, the arts, and concerts or even a sports or casino enthusiast, Metro Manila has something to offer you this weekend for your entertainment pleasure.

This superhero film is the third installment from the DC Extended Universe.

Superhero fans can go to cinemas on August 4 to witness the much-anticipated superhero film Suicide Squad. It features an all-star cast including Jared Leto, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Jay Hernandez, and Cara Delevingne. In this film, a secret government agency, which is headed by Amanda Waller, hires imprisoned supervillains to undertake black operations missions. In return, they will be given clemency and the opportunity to save the world from an unknown threat. Suicide Squad is written and directed by David Ayer, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Three plays, one show. Know more about ASEAN integration in 'Kabilang Ibayo.'

Watch the struggles of countries in achieving unity despite their differences in culture and political views in Kabilang Ibayo. This show is composed of three plays “Mysteryland,” “Robot,” and “Ahjumma” and is presented by the DLSU Harlequin Theatre Guild. Written by Nicolas Pichay and directed by Raffy Tejada, Kabilang Ibayo will be shown on August 4-6 at Augusto Rosario-Gonzales Theater, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Manila. Tickets are priced at PhP250 (early bird rate) and PhP280 (regular rate).

Discover the quirks of love and relationships with Love/Sick.

Want to get lovesick? Watch Rachel Alejandro on stage in John Cariani’s Love/Sick, a funny take on nine stories about love, loss, and relationships. It is directed by Joel Trinidad and presented by Dramatists Play Service, Inc. New York. You can watch Love/Sick on August 7 and 20 at 8:00 PM. It will be shown at the Mind Museum Auditorium, J.Y. Campos Park, 3rd Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Tickets cost PhP586.70 each. Love/Sick is produced by Upstart Productions which also brought theater hits Forbidden Broadway and Into the Woods.

Be part of the homecoming concert of Jam Morales.

Catch Jam Morales in her homecoming concert on August 6 and 13, 8:00 PM, at T.E.A.T.R.I.N.O., Promenade, Greenhills, San Juan City. Jam made a name in the Philippine music scene when she won the grand prize in the non-professional division of Metro Manila Popular Music Festival (Metropop). Based in the US for almost 30 years, Jam is a well-traveled singer, performing in Filipino communities in different parts of Europe. Tickets to the homecoming concert cost PhP2,060 (Zone 1), PhP1,545 (Zone 2), and PhP1,030 (Zone 3).

This is the fifth Komikon grand independent komiks market.

Comics enthusiasts unite! Komikon, Inc. presents IndieKet 2016, an event that showcases Filipino comics and creators. Guest artists will show their work and love for comics on August 6 at Bayanihan Center, Unilab Compound in Pasig City. Aside from the numerous comics creators, attendees can expect various exhibits and food stalls at the venue. Tickets are available at Comic Odyssey branches and at Bayanihan Center on the day of the event itself.

Marvel at Japanese design from June 30 to August 19.

Looking for an exhibit that’s all things Japanese? You can head to the Tall Galleries of Metropolitan Museum of Manila (MET) for the Japanese Design Today 100. This exhibit, which will run until August 19, features design trends and concepts that highlight Japanese lifestyle and society. It showcases 100 pieces grouped into 10 categories: classic Japanese design, furniture and houseware, tableware and cookware, apparel and accessories, children, stationery, hobbies, healthcare, disaster relief, as well as transportation. Free guided tours are available every Saturday at 2:00 PM. MET is located at Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Malate, Manila.

Be in awe of the basketball skills of your favorite PBA players. On August 5 at 4:15 PM, you can head to Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao for the Skills Challenge at PBA All Star Manila 2016. Ticket prices range from PhP150 (general admission, free seating) to PhP3,700 (Bench VIP, reserved seating). This is part of the PBA All-Star Weekend which will run from August 4 to 7.
