Nowadays, our smartphones are like our closest friends. We bring it everywhere we go, from the mall to our travels abroad. Since we use our phones all the time, it’d be nice to have one that has awesome features, from superb cameras to high-capacity memories. But we can’t have everything, and all brands have their own pros and cons. And of course no one wants to invest in a high-priced phone without getting what they paid for, right?

So to help you choose your next great investment, we asked you our readers about your favorite and most recommended mobile phone brands, and the results are in! Read on below and see if your favorite brand made the list!


10. CloudFone and MyPhone


To start our list are two local brands that are now making waves in the tech world and these are CloudFone and MyPhone.

Cloudfone is a local brand company that has been known to produce Android phones with great features without the hefty price tag. Some of their smartphones that have the latest Android operating systems (OS), High Definition (HD) screen resolutions, and long-lasting batteries still fall under the PhP10,000 price tag. Lately, Cloudfone has also been known to partner with international brands like Disney and NBA producing limited edition designs and accessories.

MyPhone is one of the pioneer phone brands in the Philippines that started the dual-sim trend. From analog phones that double as mini-television sets, today MyPhone wows the tech crowd with their My Series phones like their MyPhone My 35 (pictured above) that boasts of 16 gigabyte (GB) internal memory, a 5 megapixel (MP) front camera, and even a 4G LTE connectivity.


9. Cherry Mobile

On our 9th spot is another local brand which is Cherry Mobile. Cherry Mobile started in 2008 but is now also among the front-runners in the race for the best cell phones in the market. They are the ones who pioneered the triple sim devices, where you can use three sim cards in one phone. Today, Cherry Mobile continues to up its game with their latest innovations.


8. LG

LG continues to change the game with their technology.

Down to our number eight is Korean brand LG. Although LG has been known for its home appliances, they also produce some of the best mobile phones in the market. Their G series became a popular line because of its sleek design and almost borderless widescreen.



7. Lenovo

On the seventh spot is Chinese brand Lenovo. Lenovo became popular in the Philippines for their durable laptops, but in 2012 they entered the world of smartphones and released their first line, the k800. Originally, the goal of Lenovo is to dethrone Samsung in terms of mobile phone sales in China, but today it has been one of the go-to choices of tech aficionados in the Philippines as well.


6. Sony

Another Asian brand makes it in our list getting the sixth spot and that is Sony. Sony is a Japanese brand that has also long been known for their electronics and appliances, but in 2001 they partnered with brand Ericsson and produced a line of mobile phones known as Sony Ericsson. Today Sony is known for their line of mobile devices, the Sony Xperia.


5. Asus

Halfway through our list is Taiwanese brand Asus. Also known for their desktops and laptops, Asus also joined the bandwagon of Asian smartphone brands in 2014 with their own line of ZenFones. People were impressed with their Intel Atom processor and their Zen UI interface.



4. Apple

From the bulky 4.6” iPhones, Apple now produces bigger and better models.


For our number four is Apple or their famous line of phones, the iPhones. Apple became a tech giant through their famous MacBooks, and then in 2007 they released their first set of smartphone line: the iPhones. The iPhone was considered the merger of their music player iPod and an internet-enabled smartphone. The phone also became famous for its unique interface and the use of Apple’s own operating system, the iOS.


3. Oppo

On our top 3 is Chinese brand Oppo. Oppo was originally a maker of DVD players and Blu-Rays but later on entered the smartphone market in 2008. Although Oppo is relatively new in the Philippine market, they are now one of the top choices of the Filipinos because of their selfie-centric phones.


2. Samsung

South Korean brand Samsung takes the second spot for the best mobile brands in the country. Samsung has long been in the electronics industry but only entered the mobile phone world in 2010. Some say that the move was to counter Apple’s iPhone, but today they have one of the most popular lines of smartphones through their line of Samsung Galaxy phones.

They have entry-level smartphones that are affordable but still maintain the Samsung quality. They also have the Galaxy Note series perfect for productive users that need to work on the go. Their latest line of Galaxy S series is their best yet.

Finally, on our number one spot for the top mobile phone brands in the Philippines is Xiaomi. Xiaomi is a Chinese brand that has been in the electronics industry since 2010. Although it may seem new to the Philippine market, it has been producing smartphones since 2011 and is now known for their line of Mi phones.
