While youngsters often associate October with Halloween, adults have another event in mind during this month: Oktoberfest. Oktoberfest is an event that originated from Bavaria, Germany wherein locals and visitors enjoy a wide variety of foods and beer. Luckily, you don’t have to travel all the way to Germany to experience the spirit of Oktoberfest, as the German Club Manila will bring the experience to the country.

Besides the sumptuous Bavarian feast and overflowing Weihenstephaner Beer, visitors can also win raffle prizes. The Bavarian Sound Express, a German folk band, will also grace the event to make it feel like an authentic Oktoberfest in Germany.

Tickets are available at The German Club’s website.

How to get there: Ride the MRT-3 to Taft Avenue Station. Exit the station and ride a jeepney to SM Mall of Asia. From the mall, wait for the Solaire shuttle service near the entrance. Ask around for the Oktoberfest Tent upon arriving at Solaire.

The Philippines is surrounded by water, so it comes as no surprise to find Filipinos who embrace the nautical lifestyle. Every year, hobbyists and professionals in the marine industry hold an annual meet up called Sea Expo where they showcase the newest upgrades for boats and other sailing-related materials.

For this year, there would be a floating dock for on-water boat display, which means that attendees can get to see the boats on actual water and enjoy the cruises along the Esplanade Seaside Terminal. In addition to that, diving equipment, water sports equipment, summer apparel, luxury automobiles, and other supplementary items will also be in display. Experts on sailing will also share their knowledge and ideas.

Tickets are available at SM Tickets outlets and SM Tickets online.

How to get there: Take the MRT-3 up to the Taft Avenue Station then head to the jeepney terminal outside. Ride a jeepney or shuttle to SM Mall of Asia. Look for the eye-shaped building once you arrive at SM Mall of Asia—it’s the SMX Convention Center.
