September has seen a stellar lineup of stars on stage, but October also has a remarkable roster of musicians raring to return to Manila’s concert scene. Last month featured many first-time performers in the Philippines, but this month will showcase artists who will come back to the country after many years since their last visit.

Some notable returning international musicians are Panic! At the Disco, A1, and Mariah Carey, while local artists like Daniel Padilla will also come back to the spotlight. It’s definitely a big month, so mark your calendar and take note of the upcoming concerts. To get the complete lineup of concerts in Manila this October 2018, read on!


1. D4: Daniel Padilla Back at the Araneta

When: October 13, 2018; 8:00 PM

After the success of “The Hows of Us,” a movie starring Daniel Padilla and his real-life girlfriend Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel will once again conquer the concert scene as he returns to Smart Araneta Coliseum for the fourth time. The actor is not only known for his box office films but also for popular hits such as “Nasa ’Yo na ang Lahat” (You Have It All) and his renditions of “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us,” and “Pangako Sa’yo” (I Promise You.)

How to get to Smart Araneta Coliseum: You can take either the LRT-2 or the MRT-3 to get to Araneta Center Cubao Terminal Station. From the station, walk to Gateway Mall. Smart Araneta Coliseum can be seen easily from there.


2. Lea Salonga: The 40th Anniversary Concert

There’s a reason why many consider Lea Salonga as one of the Philippines’ best singers. In her 40 years in the entertainment industry, Lea has received much acclaim locally and internationally for her vocal prowess and her iconic theater portrayals of Eponine in Les Miserables and Kim in Miss Saigon. She was also the singing voice of Mulan and Princess Jasmine in the popular animated Disney movies.

As her achievements in her career landed her awards and a respectable reputation, she also gained loyal fans. To honor her accomplishments and four decades in the industry, Lea will hold a special concert where she’ll perform songs from Broadway and her own OPM songs.

How to get to the PICC Plenary Hall: Ride the LRT-1 to Vito Cruz Station then head outside. Look for the Torre Lorenzo Plaza. It’s the building with a Starbucks chain on the ground floor. Around this area are orange shuttle jeepneys that will pass by PICC. Ride one of the jeepneys and ask to be dropped off at PICC. The fare is PhP9.


3. Panic! At the Disco: Pray for the Wicked Tour

This month, Panic! At the Disco will show their Filipino fans some love in their long-awaited Pray For The Wicked Tour in Manila. This would be the second solo concert of the band in the country, although they visited Manila two years ago for the In The Mix music festival. Panic! At the Disco is known for the rock songs “I Write Sins, Not Tragedies,” “The Ballad of Mona Lisa,” “This Is Gospel,” and “Miss Jackson.”

How to get to Mall of Asia Arena: Use the MRT-3 and get off at the Taft Avenue Station. From the station, head outside and look for a jeepney heading to SM Mall of Asia (MOA). Ride the jeepney and get off at SM MOA. The regular fare is PhP9. From MOA, walk towards the eye-shaped building. That is the MOA Arena.


4. Kuh Ledesma and Christian Bautista sings Streisand, Groban and Legrand

When: October 20, 2018; 8:00 PM

Kuh Ledesma and Christian Bautista, two of the Philippines’ most popular singers, would join forces for a night full of the music of Barbra Streisand, Josh Groban, and Michel Legrand. The two OPM artists will also be the first to use the newly minted The Tent at Solaire.

Christian Bautista gained fame when he joined the Star in A Million competition in 2003, and he is known for his renditions of “Beautiful Girl,” “Fixing A Broken Heart,” and “ The Way You Look at Me.” Meanwhile, Kuh Ledesma is one of Philippines’ top singing divas who is behind the hits “I Think I’m In Love,” “Till I Met You,” and “Ako Ay Pilipino” (I Am a Filipino).

How to get to The Tent at Solaire: Take the MRT to Taft Avenue Station. Ride a jeepney to SM Mall of Asia. Look for the free Solaire shuttle terminal which is in front of the mall. Upon arriving at Solaire, ask the guard for the location of The Tent.


5. A1 20th Anniversary "Reunion"

When: October 21 to 22, 2018; 8:00 PM

Would you believe that the boy band A1 will turn 20 already? The British-Norwegian group will commemorate this career milestone with their fans through a series of special concerts. If you loved Ben Adams, Mark Read, Paul Marazzi, or Christian Ingebrigtsen during your childhood years, their concert is the perfect opportunity to see them perform live again!

The band released some of the most memorable love songs of this generation such as “Like a Rose,” “Everytime,” and “Heaven by Your Side.” The show was originally set for one-night only, but due to insistent public demand, they added another show. The boyband will be having a total three shows in the country: two in Manila and one in Cebu.

How to get to Kia Theatre: Take either LRT-2 or MRT-3 and get off at Araneta Center Cubao Terminal Station. From the station, walk along Aurora Boulevard and turn to General Aguinaldo Avenue on the right side of the road. Take a left turn, and you’ll see Kia Theatre.


6. Mariah Carey Live in Concert

It has been four years since songstress Mariah Carey graced the Manila concert stage in her “The Elusive Chanteuse” tour. With an impressive five-octave vocal range and whistle register, Mariah is deemed as one of the most iconic pop divas of all time. Her songs are also consistent toppers on major music charts.

Now that she released a new single for her upcoming album, she’s having a much-awaited comeback in the country. Fans can expect to hear several of Mariah’s classic songs such as “Emotions,” “One Sweet Day,” “Always Be My Baby,” and “Touch My Body” in the concert.

7. The OPM Hitmen Live!

When: October 27, 2018; 8:00 PM

The OPM Hitmen’s name reflects them well as they are behind some of the most iconic songs in the country. The members consist of Renz Verano, Rannie Raymundo, Chad Borja, and Richard Reynoso. Renz is behind “Remember Me” and “Keep On Loving You,” while Rannie Raymundo is the voice behind “Why Can’t It Be.” Chard Borja, on the other hand, is known for “Babe, I Love You” and Richard Reynoso is behind “Paminsan-minsan” (Sometimes).

The men will be joined by Dulce and the Asop band onstage. Tickets are available at Ticketworld outlets and Ticketworld online.

How to get to the Music Museum: Ride the MRT-3 and alight at the Ortigas Station. Exit the station at the northbound side and head to Robinsons Galleria. Cross the street and wait for a jeepney heading to San Juan or any RRCG or G Liner bus that will pass Quiapo. Ask the driver to drop you off at Greenhills. From the drop-off point, walk to the right side and walk along the pavement upon reaching Promenade Mall. The Music Museum is beside it.


Tips for purchasing tickets and watching the show:

  • For a safe transaction, purchase only from official distributors.
  • If you’re watching with your friends or with a big group, check how many tickets can be bought per transaction.
  • You can monitor the last-minute changes and announcements on the event by following the social media pages of the event organizer, artists, and the venue.
  • If you want to have the best parking spot and the best seats (if the event is free seating only), try to arrive at the venue early.
  • If the ticket has seat assignments, practice basic courtesy and do not take someone’s reserved seats.
  • Always make sure to follow the venue’s rules and regulations. Research and check what is allowed and prohibited to bring inside the venue. If there’s a dress code, be sure to follow it as well.
  • Keep your personal belongings close to you at all times, and keep an eye on them to avoid theft.
