Metro Manila will be busy this week, as is the norm. For tourists, motorists, and residents alike, we give you the things to expect this week. First, the weather will be mostly rainy and cloudy, so anyone who’s heading to the city this week must bring umbrellas and other rain protective gear. In terms of transportation, there’s good news and bad news: the good news is that there’s a new P2P route that will benefit commuters from the South, and the bad news is that the closing of the Estrella Bridge will push through on the 19th. We still end with a bit of good news, as the National Museum Planetarium has finally reopened after two months of renovations.

Weather: Generally rainy weather for the entire week

Tourists and travelers are advised to bring their umbrellas since it’s expected to be rainy for the whole week. While there are cloudy days ahead, afternoon rains will be more frequent. Day temperature is likely to fall between 29 °C to 31 °C, while night temperature would be around 22 °C to 23 °C [1]. Monitor the changes in the weather by watching the news.

Traffic News

New P2P bus route from Las Piñas to Makati

Folks from the South have a new Point-to-Point (P2P) bus route that will help them get to Makati. The new route will travel from SM Southmall to Makati every day from 5:30 AM to 9:00 PM. The route has the following pick-up points: near the SM Southmall parking area, Landmark, RCBC Plaza, and Circuit Lane Mall. Regular fare would be PhP100, and discounted fare for senior citizens, students, and persons with disabilities is PhP80 [2].

Closure of Estrella Bridge moved to January 19

The Metropolitan Manila Development (MMDA) pushed back the closure of the Estrella Bridge to January 19 from its original date of January 12. Motorists who use the bridge are advised to take the EDSA-Guadalupe Bridge or Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge as these two connect Barangay Poblacion in Makati and Barangay Hulo in Mandaluyong [3].

Travel Update: National Museum Planetarium reopens to the public

After its closing last November due to renovations, the National Museum Planetarium has reopened last January 14. It is open from 10 AM to 5 PM from Tuesday to Sunday [4]. The entrance to the exhibits is free, but for planetarium shows the museum will charge PhP50 for regular visitors, PhP30 for students (with ID), and PhP40 for senior citizens and PWDs.
