This week, transportation improvement projects are all over Metro Manila to make travel easier and faster. For one, a new Point-to-Point (P2P) bus route will benefit commuters from Rizal, as travelling to Makati and vice versa will now be easier. Meanwhile, cyclists from Taytay can now use the spacious bicycle lane in the recently opened Laguna Lake Highway. Lastly, rerouting schemes will be implemented along Balintawak in order to ease the heavy traffic in the area due to the construction of the Skyway Stage 3.

Weather: Plenty of sun over Metro Manila

There would be no chance for rain this week as the weather is expected to be generally sunny. This will be a great time to do outdoor activities, go on a road trip, or go sightseeing. Just remember to wear comfortable clothing made from light materials and apply suncreen. Bringing an umbrella is also a must since prolonged exposure to the sun’s rays is dangerous. The week will be warm at around 31 to 32° C, but cold winds are expected to persist [1]. Monitor the changes in the weather by staying tuned to the news.

Traffic News

New P2P route from Cainta to Makati now accessible to the public

Good news to those who are living in Rizal: there is now a Point-to-Point (P2P) bus route that will make commuting from Rizal to Makati more convenient. The route will start from Robinsons Cainta and end at Trasierra, Makati. From Cainta, the earliest trip is at 5:30 AM and the last trip is at 5:30 PM. Meanwhile, the earliest trip for buses leaving from Makati to Cainta is at 7:30 AM while the last trip is at 8:00 PM. Regular fare is PhP90, but the discounted fare for students, PWDS, and senior citizens is PhP72 [2].

Bike lane from Taytay to Taguig now open

Another way to travel from Rizal to the south would be via the recently opened bike lane on Laguna Lake Highway. The 6.8-kilometer highway connects Taytay, Rizal to Bicutan, Taguig and it includes a wide protected bicycle lane [3].

MMDA to implement rerouting scheme around Balintawak

Because traffic is expected to be heavier due to the ongoing construction of the Skyway Stage Project 3 in Balintawak, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and North Luzon Expressway Corp., (NLEX) enforced a traffic rerouting scheme. The scheme is as follows [4]:

• For vehicles coming from NLEX to Quezon City: Use the Smart Connect Interchange to Mindanao Avenue.

• Vehicles that will be coming from Quirino Highway going to EDSA via Camachile must use the Camachile Flyover, then take a right turn to the West Service Road, then make another right turn to EDSA.

• Motorists heading to Port Area from EDSA Munoz will need to head to Monumento crossing Balintawak Cloverleaf. From there, turn left to De Jesus Street then drive straight to C3. Upon arriving at C3, turn right to Port Area.
