Summer can’t come soon enough, and if you’re part of the population who prefer to enjoy the season in the city, then you’d have to have a summer fest that’s better than the beach. Lucky for you, the music scene looks to make a statement this March. These upcoming events this March 2019 featuring local and international acts are shaping up to be your very own lineup of summer activities. Artists from various points in the spectrum are coming for to perform on concerts you wouldn’t want to miss! Want to know more about these upcoming events this March? 1. Wanderland Music Festival

When: March 9 and 10, 2019

If you are interested in music festivals just like Coachella, Lollapalooza, or South by Southwest, then this local grand music festival may have already gotten your attention. Wanderland Music Festival has been dubbed by some as the local version of Coachella since it also celebrates music and art. This year, Wanderland will bring in big names in the local and foreign independent music scene. Headlining the event is Two Door Cinema Club, and the band will be joined by other top acts like HONNE, SG Lewis, The Kooks, Unique Salonga, and many others. The two-day event will also feature live art from local artists such as Vena Martinez, Raco Ruiz, Frances Dandan, and Joshua Panaligan. Tickets are available at Wanderland’s website.

How to get there: Ride a bus from EDSA southbound heading to Alabang/Pacita/San Pedro and alight at South Station in Alabang. From there, ride a jeepney heading to Zapote Road then ask the driver to drop you off at Filinvest City Events Ground. It is nearby EastWest bank.



2. Rita Ora Live in Manila

When: March 10, 2019; 8PM
Where: New Frontier Theatre

British pop singer Rita Ora will be heading to Manila for the first time as part of her Phoenix World Tour. The concert will feature songs from her latest album “Phoenix.” Rita is known for her chart-topping songs, “Let You Love Me,” “Girls,” “I Will Never Let You Down,” and “Body On Me, ”and has collaborated with other big names in the industry such as Charli XCX, Chris Brown, and Liam Payne. Aside from being a singer, Rita is also known for being an actress and a host. Tickets are available at Ticketnet outlets and Ticketnet online.

How to get there: Take the LRT-2 or MRT-3 and get off at Araneta Center Cubao Station. Exit the station and walk along Aurora Boulevard then turn to General Aguinaldo Avenue on the right side. Turn left and you’ll see the New Frontier Theatre.


3. Ramp Music Festival

When: March 14, 2019; 6 PM
Where: Cuneta Astrodome

Another music festival you can head to this month is Ramp Music Festival. In this festival, you’ll not only enjoy the performances of phenomenal local acts like Itchyworms, December Avenue, Hale, Rouge, and Record Artist Management and Production (RAMP)’s own artists, but you will also get to help others in need. Part of the festival’s proceeds will be given to Bukas Palad Foundation, an organization that helps less fortunate youth and families in the Philippines get better lives. How to get there: Ride the LRT-1 then alight at Libertad Station. Exit the station and go to the corner of Taft Avenue and Libertad Street. From there, ride a jeepney heading to Harrison Plaza or Pier. Ask the driver to drop you off at the Cuneta Astrodome.


4. Roger Sanchez

When: March 15, 2019; 10:30 PM to 5:00 AM
Where: Cove Manila
Ticket Price: PhP1,000 General Admission inclusive of one drink






Party animals unite! Dominican-American DJ Roger Sanchez will head to Cove Manila this month for a one-night show. Get ready to dance to several of his hits such as “Another Chance,” “Turn On the Music,” and “This Feeling.” The Grammy Award-winning DJ has been in the country before and performed in several clubs for Filipino EDM fans.

How to get there: Ride any Okada Manila free shuttle at the following pickup points: SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, SM Aura, SM North EDSA, SM BF Paranaque, and Binondo. The schedule per shuttle is available at Okada Manila’s website.



5. Ruel Ready Tour

When: March 16, 2019
Where: Teatrino Promenade, Greenhills Shopping Center

Australia’s young rising star Ruel is “ready” to meet his Filipino fans. His concert this March 16 will be the 16-year-old singer’s first time to perform in Philippines. Ruel rose to prominence in 2017 for his song “Don’t Tell Me.” Some of his other songs include “Dazed and Confused,” “Don’t Tell Me,” “Younger,” and “Not Thinking ‘Bout You.” Tickets are available at Ticketworld.

How to get there: Ride any RRCG or G-Liner bus heading to Quiapo. Ask the driver to drop you off at Greenhills Shopping Center. Walk around the premise, Teatrino is located beside Promenade.


6. Pulp Summer Slam XIX: The Second Coming Festival

When: March 23, 2019; 12 PM

Now on its 19th installment, Pulp Summer Slam will bring heavy hitters such as Tom Araya, Kerry King, Gary Holt, and Paul Bostaph and will have legendary metal group Slayer headlining the event. This concert is a must for Slayer fans, since the American thrash metal band announced earlier in 2018 that they will be embarking on one final world tour before quitting the music scene, adding Manila as one of their stops. In addition, this will be their first ever show in the country as well. Pulp Summer Slam has been the longest-running metal music festival in Southeast Asia and has always drawn a huge audience of metalheads and die-hard rock fans year after year. Tickets are available at SM Tickets booths and SM Tickets outlets.



How to get there: Ride the LRT-2 then alight at Araneta Center Cubao Station. Exit the station and walk along Aurora Boulevard towards EDSA. Use the footbridge to get to the other side. Go down the stairs along Aurora Boulevard then walk towards the Sgt. J. Calolos Street. From there, wait for a jeepney with a “Roces Palengke Pantranco” sign. Ask the driver to drop you off at Amoranto Sports Complex Gate 1.


7. Dreamcatcher Concert: Invitation from Nightmare City

When: March 24, 2019; 7 PM
Where: SM North EDSA Skydome

Dreamcatcher is among the top South Korean acts of today to watch out for. They ditched the default cookie-cutter K-Pop girl group by not only drawing influence from rock music, but also shedding the colorful K-pop costumes and instead donning dark-colored outfits. For a group that is called Dreamcatcher, their image seems something straight from our nightmares, but they have become a sensation exactly because of this. Fans of the group will get to finally meet the girls, as Manila joins the list of venues in Dreamcatcher’s Southeast Asia Tour. Some of their popular songs include “You and I,” “Piri,” and “Fly High.” Tickets are available at Ticketnet outlets and Ticketnet website.

How to get there: Take the MRT-3 then get off at the North Avenue Station. The station is directly linked to Trinoma. Walk the connecting bridgeway between Trinoma and SM North EDSA. The SM Skydome is the visible dome-shaped building at the area.



8. Andy Brown Live In Manila: The Acoustic Sessions

When: March 30, 2019; 8 PM
Where: SM Skydome

Andy Brown, the former frontman of British pop rock band Lawson, will be returning to the country to promote his own debut album “Cedarmonth,” which includes singles such as “Lay with Me” and “Talk of the Town.” Before his solo career, he and his former group Lawson have previously visited the Philippines when they promoted their debut album “Chapman Square,” which has already achieved a multi-platinum status. This would be his first-ever show at the country as a solo artist. Along with songs from his solo debut album, he will be also including some of Lawson’s hit songs like “Learn to Love Again,” “Dancing In The Dark,” and “When She Was Mine.”

How to get there: Take the MRT-3 then get off at the North Avenue Station. The station is directly linked to Trinoma. Walk the connecting bridgeway between Trinoma and SM North EDSA. The SM Skydome is the visible dome-shaped building at the area.


9. The Aces

Young crooner Darren Espanto, power belter Jona, and the legendary Lani Misalucha are set to perform together for one night in the show “The Aces.” Darren Espanto has been molded into a teen pop sensation over the years and was a successful product of The Voice Kids. Jona is a sultry songstress whose songs have been used in popular soap operas and is also known for her vocal chops. Lani Misalucha is one of the pillars of OPM and affectionately called “The Asia’s Songbird.” Together, the trip is set to perform each of their popular hits for their fans.



How to get there: Take the LRT-2 then alight at the Araneta Center-Cubao Terminal Station. Exit the station and walk outside Gateway Mall. Araneta Coliseum is just behind Gateway Mall. It is also near Isetann Mall.

Tips for purchasing tickets and watching the show:

• Buy from official ticket distributors only. Beware of scalpers since they tend to sell overpriced tickets.
• Look out for bundled promos if you’re going with a group of friends. Also, make sure to check the rules about bulk purchase.
