More holidays occur this week, which means families will be coming home from provinces or visiting their relatives residing in provinces. To help manage the expected traffic surge this may cause, the NLEX-SCTEX authority has enforced their seasonal motorist assistance program for the holiday season. Meanwhile, the IATF issued a resolution that allows foreign nationals to enter the country under a few conditions.

Travel News: IATF allows select travelers to visit the Philippines

The Inter-Agency Task Force issued a resolution that allows the following nationals to enter the Philippines starting December 7, 2020:

• Former Filipino citizens (Filipinos with foreign passports) including their spouses and children traveling with them;
• Foreign spouse and children of a Filipino citizen

These nationals will be allowed to enter regardless of their age. Travel will only be allowed to those who are from visa-free countries and nationals must pre-book a quarantine facility prior to traveling. All traveling passengers must also download the Traze Contact Tracing App for contact tracing purposes. [1]

Transportation News: NLEX-SCTEX intensified operations for the holidays

The North Luzon Expressway Corporation enforced the seasonal “Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko” (SMSK) motorist assistance program to prepare for the incoming traffic surge this holiday season. The SMSK program will continuously enhance all services along the NLEX-SCTEX (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway) for a more comfortable journey for travelers this Christmas and New Year season.

Traffic monitoring teams will be assigned to closely monitor high-volume toll plazas including Balintawak, Mindanao, Karuhatan, Bocaue, San Fernando, Clark South, and Tipo. 1,200 patrol crews, traffic marshals, security teams, and RFID Assist Squads will also be deployed at strategic areas in the expressway. There will be speed and lane management teams to monitor and enforce traffic discipline. Emergency and medical services and incident response teams will also be present as part of the program. [2]
