Last August 31, 2020, President Rodrigo Duterte addressed the nation regarding updates about the quarantine statuses in the country. Iligan City was placed under MECQ or modified enhanced community quarantine. Meanwhile, the National Capital Region, Bulacan, Batangas, Tacloban City, and Bacolod City were placed under general community quarantine or GCQ and the rest of the country remained under MGCQ. These updated quarantine statuses took effect last September 1 and will last until September 30, 2020. Following the new guidelines for areas under GCQ, commercial establishments will be allowed to continue operations but under limited capacity only. Read on for quarantine updates and more.
Quarantine Updates
MGCQ guidelines released in Tagaytay
With the City of Tagaytay under MGCQ, City Mayor Agnes D. Tolentino released a memorandum stating the guidelines to be followed in the city. These include the observance of minimum public health protocols, wearing of face shields in public places, restriction of mass gatherings to 50% of the total capacity, and implementation of curfew hours from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Batangas remains under GCQ
The province of Batangas remained under general community quarantine. This will take effect starting September 1 to 30, 2020. All residents must still follow minimum public health safety guidelines such as wearing of face masks and face shields, proper and regular hand washing, and observance of social distancing. [2]
In areas under GCQ, commercial establishments such as gyms and personal care centers are allowed to open but only under limited capacity. Restaurants and other dining establishments may continue dine-in operations, but only up to 30% of the full capacity of the place. Religious and mass gatherings will be limited to only 10 people. Review, testing, and tutorial centers may also continue operations but only up to 30% of their capacity. Lastly, gyms and internet cafes may continue to operate but only with half of their full capacity. [3 & 4]

Batangas LGU implements mandatory wearing of face masks and face shield
The local government unit of San Jose, Batangas released a memorandum requiring all individuals to wear face masks and face shields in all public places. This guideline took effect last September 1, 2020. [5]
