Last month, the national government laid out an order that requires closure of cemeteries from October 29 to November 4 to avoid mass gatherings. On the other hand, diving resorts in the area were given the go signal to reopen to tourists once more, but under limited conditions. Meanwhile, specific establishments in Tagaytay are required to close every Monday for disinfecting purposes.

Quarantine Updates

Diving resorts in Batangas allowed to reopen

The Department of Tourism now allowed diving resorts to reopen in selected areas of Batangas. This followed after Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat signed the PCSSD Administrative Order no. 202-001, also known as the Guidelines on the Operations of Dive Establishments Under a Community Quarantine. Puyat mentioned that only those who live in areas under MGCQ or modified general community quarantine, and GCQ or general community quarantine may enter Batangas.

Everyone is required to “test before travel” and only those with a valid DOT/PCSSD Accreditation will be allowed to operate. Guests of all ages are welcome, but the activity is off-limits to those with comorbidities and pregnant women. [1]

Health News

Batangas City prohibits visiting of cemeteries for this year’s All Saints’ Day

Following the nationwide order, the local government of Batangas ordered all cemeteries in the province to temporarily close for All Saints’ Day from October 29 to November 4. This is to make sure all residents follow strict physical distancing protocols and to avoid overcrowding at the cemeteries. Those who wish to visit their departed loved ones may do so after November 4. [2]

Tagaytay establishments closed on Mondays for disinfection

The local government of Tagaytay has issued an executive order that requires establishments like hotels, fast food joints, stand-alone restaurants, dining spots within malls, markets, amusements and theme parks, and souvenir shops to close every Monday for disinfection. All offices and agencies that operate from Monday to Friday are required to conduct disinfection protocols on weekends. However, hotel guests may still make use of housekeeping and food and drink services.

Any establishment caught violating the order will be sanctioned a one-week temporary closure for its first offense and a month-long temporary closure for the second offense. This order was made to help lessen the spread of COVID-19 and to keep the surroundings clean. [3, 4]
